We start inclining very slowly, but according to the G-force pull I am feeling, we may be, say 90 degrees off center. The floor, pews, and fireplaces start to rock, the whole floor rotates on an axis that is hidden somewhere behind the tops of the closet/firplace. Then YOU ACTUALLY RE-GAINED that balance.Remember that feeling? Well, this is nothing like that, but just as cool. I will now try to explain to you one of the coolest feelings a human can go through, sort-of-like when you were younger, and use to tip your school chair back against the wall, but then you would loose the balance, and seconds would pass, time would stop. Time passes, I lean in to "suggest" to my brother that they are slowly lifting us up, walls and all, only to drop us. Between the doors are stepped closets, or like a mantle of a fireplace. Some bar/restraint devise gets lowered into your lap, eliminated any hopes of a future Father's Day. These benches face each other, maybe 80 people can ride. Four really long pew-looking benches are in this room, two sets on one side, two sets on another. There are basically four doors, two in, two out. This room is set up like a living room, very high ceilings, paintings on the wall, very ornate. You are then let into the next room, the actual ride itself. I was more interested in removing one of the weighted balls. You are asked into a waiting room that looks like a library, books, handcuffs (screwed down with a dozen or more screws, I know, I checked) Big ball weights, (cool, where can I find them?) Some invisible announcer talks about Houdini, they show some old footage (Color, Hollywood circa 1995) of Houdini doing the Metamorphosis. The outside in this mansion has three artist renditions of famous Houdini posters. It has been twenty years since I visited Six Flags at Great Adventure, and dare I say I actually think they built this Houdini amusement on top of the grounds where several kids died in a tragic "Haunted House" fire. What I will tell you is that this amusement created one of the best illusions I have ever witnessed.I will try to work you through the motions, there is a secret, I guess? So, if you do not care to know the inner workings of an amusement ride, please skip this thread. I can't remember if this ride was ever reported on/in Genii, nor could I tell you when it was introduced. But first let me state that, just by naming a ride "Houdini's Great Escape" you better have yourself one damn good spinner, and Six Flags did just that. Labor Day weekend is here in the States, I thought you may be pondering just where to go this upcoming weekend.
